Welcome — quick start in minutes
VaultSuite is your secure companion app for managing cryptocurrencies using a hardware wallet. This guide walks you step-by-step through setup, secure seed backup, firmware updates, address verification, and best practices for long-term wallet security. Whether you are new to hardware wallets or migrating from a software wallet, follow these clear steps to get started safely.
Why use a hardware wallet?
A hardware wallet stores private keys offline, reducing exposure to malware and phishing. Use VaultSuite to sign transactions securely, verify addresses on-device, and manage multiple accounts. Hardware wallets are the recommended solution for people holding meaningful crypto balances or seeking robust key custody.
Before you begin
- Have your hardware device and a secure, private space ready.
- Use a brand-new device or a factory-reset device.
- Never share your seed phrase or private key with anyone.
- Use the latest VaultSuite app and confirm firmware authenticity during setup.
Step 1 — Install VaultSuite
Download the official VaultSuite app for your platform (Windows, macOS, Linux). Open the app and connect your device using the provided USB cable. When prompted, choose Initialize new device or Restore if you already have a backup seed.
Step 2 — Create and secure your seed
During initialization, VaultSuite will generate a 12/24-word seed phrase. Write this seed down on the included card — not on a computer or phone. Store multiple copies in separate secure locations. This seed is the only way to recover your funds if the device is lost or damaged.
Step 3 — Firmware & verification
VaultSuite checks device firmware automatically. If an update is available, follow on-screen instructions. Always verify firmware fingerprints shown in the app with the device screen. Never approve unknown firmware requests.
Step 4 — Add accounts & receive
Add cryptocurrency networks (e.g., Bitcoin, Ethereum) in VaultSuite, create accounts, and generate receiving addresses. Before sending funds to any address, confirm the address on your hardware device’s screen — this prevents address substitution attacks.
Security tips
- Activate device PIN and passphrase features for extra protection.
- Use hardware verification for every transaction.
- Keep software up-to-date and download only from official sources.
Troubleshooting & recovery
Lost device? Use your seed phrase with a compatible wallet to restore your accounts. If your seed is compromised, move funds to a new wallet immediately. For technical issues, VaultSuite includes an interactive help center and verified support channels for firmware and compatibility queries.
